College Connection

This ministry is our way of communicating with the college students from our parish.  This communication happens twice a year and involves sending a “shoe box care package” to our students before exam time each semester.

We Need Student’s Addresses:
If you have a son or daughter from the parish in college whether living at home or away and would like them to receive a care package, you must give us his or her current mailing address.  We can only send the packages to students whose current mailing addresses are given to us. Please submit the address(es) below.

We Need Your Help to Continue This Ministry:
There are two ways you can help:

1. Make a $$ donation to help defray the cost of postage to mail these packages. (They can get expensive!)  Checks can be made payable to “St. John XXIII” and put in an envelope marked “College Connection” and dropped in the collection baskets at either parish or mailed to the Formation Office. You can also donate here.
2. Choose several items below and put them in the box in the Church gathering area.  Or you may drop off your items at the parish office or the Faith Formation office—make sure you indicate the items are for College Connection. Examples of appropriate items include microwave popcorn, ramen noodles, granola bars, wrapped candy, prayer cards, etc. Please AVOID:  Any heavy items, perishable items, items larger than a shoe box, or any medications.

Please drop off items at Church on the weekends of November 11-12 or 18-19 or 25-26 or deliver your items to the parish office or Faith Formation Office by November 28.

You are also welcome and invited to help prepare the care packages (sorting, packing, mailing) on Tuesday, November 28 at 6:00pm in Rooms 141-142 in the West wing (the large meeting room)  Families are welcome!  Great service opportunity for youth! (It’s fun, too).
