IC ORGAN REPLACMENT COMPLETE!
December 12, 2024
Earlier this fall, the organ at our Immaculate Conception Church site stopped working. After having it inspected by a professional organ maintenance vendor, it was determined the organ was beyond repair. Given this unfortunate news, our Director of Liturgy & Worship Tim Handle set about trying to find a replacement organ. This search was discouraging at first in that the best deals Tim could find were in excess of $60,000. Tim persisted nonetheless, and eventually came across Kraft Music, a music instrument vendor out of Franklin, WI with the components necessary for bringing our IC organ back to life at less than $8,700. Wanting to be sure this would be a good solution for our parish, Tim consulted with Nate Hull of Hull Audio & Visual who has done a great deal of sound system work at all three of our worship sites. Nate confirmed that the Kraft Music approach was solid, but recommended we add an amplifier to ensure the music forthcoming from the organ would well fill the IC worship space.
Confident we had arrived at an entirely satisfactory solution to our IC organ needs, we purchased from Kraft Music the parts that will make up the new organ while reusing the existing organ case/cabinet and bench, along with a spare amplifier we secured when purchasing a replacement organ for our St. Peter of Alcantara Church site four years ago. While we were hoping to complete the installation by Christmas, Tim did us one holiday better and completed the organ replacement project prior to Thanksgiving!
Although our parish is fully committed to covering the IC organ replacement cost, we would certainly welcome donations from parishioners or others who may be pleased to support this particular cause. Should you be so inclined, checks may be made out to St. John XXIII Congregation, with IC Organ Replacement in the memo line, and sent to/dropped off at our parish office (1800 N. Wisconsin St, PW, 53074). Given these restricted donations, we may then have more funds at our disposal to address other buildings and grounds related needs. Regardless, we are pleased with the resumption of organ music at our IC Church site, and most grateful to Tim for making this happen sooner than expected!
