The solemn act of burying the deceased, whether in a traditional casket or through cremation, is regarded as one of the corporal works of mercy, reflecting the burial of Christ. This practice beautifully symbolizes our hope in the resurrection, where the body and soul of the departed will be reunited. Our cemeteries provide gravesites, niches for cremated remains, and an ossuary— a shared resting place. Each of these options ensures that a person’s name is memorialized and will endure through the generations, allowing families to locate their final resting place for years to come.

New Developments at Our Cemeteries

The active St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port on Buetel Rd is in the process of acquiring a new columbarium building, expected to arrive around late summer next year. Our current building still has niches available, and we are now starting pre-sales for the new building. We have managed to maintain the same prices, even with rising construction costs.

Additionally, our Saukville site has recently opened a new 45-grave section on the east side, now available for grave sales. For further information, please contact Steve Ziebel at 262-2707-1465 or cemetery@stjohn23rd.org.

Call for Assistance

We need help— a driver recently had an accident and damaged the entry gate at Old St. Mary’s Cemetery. We are currently struggling to find a company that can replace the gate, which is made of cast iron and features intricate carvings. If you have any recommendations for someone or a company that could assist us in replicating this historic piece, please reach out. The costs for the gate’s repair will be covered by insurance. Please contact Steve Ziebel at 262-707-1465 or cemetery@stjohn23rd.org.
